Never before seen works by Olafur Eliasson showcased in Serralves Museum and Park

Serralves will host Olafur Eliasson artwork, starting on 31 July 2019 and running till 8 March 2020 in the Museum, and till 14 June at Serralves Park.

Following Anish Kapoor, it is now the time to appreciate Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson large-scale installation art and sculptures in Serralves. The artist was born in Copenhagen and stands out not only by his large scale sculptures and installations, but also by the integration of art and the public space.

Eliasson employs elemental materials such as light, water, and air temperature to boost the viewer's experience.

The artist established Studio Olafur Eliasson in Berlin, in 1995, to pursue laboratory research. Olafur represented Denmark at the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003 and that same year he installed The Weather Project in the Turbine Hall of Tate Modern, London.

Serralves will host new works by Olafur Eliasson that "will link with Serralves Park's organicity, as well as with the architecture of the building designed by Siza Vieira", according to a press release by Serralves.

The exhibit is curated by Philippe Vergne, Marta Moreira de Almeida and Filipa Loureiro, organised by the Serralves Foundation ? Museum of Contemporary Art, jointly with the Olafur Eliasson Studio and the neugerriemschneider Gallery, Berlin and Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, New York, Los Angeles.

The display is themed "O Teu/Nosso Futuro É Agora" ["Yours/Our Future Is Now"], and it is the first solo exhibition of the Danish-Icelandic artist in Portugal.
