"Parasite" made history at the Oscars, on 9 February 2020, during the 92nd Academy Awards; not only did the film won both the Best Picture and the Best Foreign Language Film, but it also won Best Director (Bong Joon-ho), Best Original Screenplay, Best Production Design and Best Film Editing.

Bong Joon-ho comes out as the improbable winner with his newest universal acclaimed film, "Parasite", which premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival on 21 May 2019, where it was awarded the Palme d'Or; also, "Parasite" became the first Korean film to receive the award and the first film to win with a unanimous vote since 2013's Blue Is the Warmest Colour.

The plot revolves around Kim Ki-taek and his family, all unemployed in a shabby semi-basement apartment. The family struggles to survive. Ki-woo's friend Min-hyuk visits the family and suggests Ki-woo should take over his job as an English tutor for the wealthy Park family.

Ki-woo is hired by Mrs. Park to tutor her daughter Da-hye. From this point on a series of unusual events take place.
