Phonopticon is brought to audiences at Rivoli, by artistic platform Sonoscopia, in the scope of the 88th Anniversary of this iconic building in Porto, on 18 and 19 January, at 4pm.

This artistic performance features a collective sound creation that follows a representation model inspired by the architecture of the panopticon, a building designed by Jeremy Bentham in the 18th century that included a 360º central tower, overviewing prisoner's cells, which were displayed in a circular shape.

Sonoscopia's main goal is to reinterpret the notions of control and power underlying the panopticon and provide the audience with free interpretation of meaning through acoustic instruments, such as loudspeakers.

Phonopticon's performance delves into new forms of communication by means of electroacoustic composition and spatialization.

Entrance is free.
