Piano Marathon at São Bento Station

If you happen to pass by or visit São Bento Station today, 29 July, you will be gifted a piano marathon till 4pm.
It is the somewhat informal presentation of Porto Pianofest 4th edition, running from 1 to 9 August, in different venues that include Casa da Música, The Rectory of the University of Porto and the Palácio da Bolsa.
The opening concert is scheduled for 9pm on 1 August at Casa da Música and features the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra and pianist João Paulo Esteves da Silva.
The international piano festival includes both concerts and recitals, targeted at the public at large, and performed by "Piano Masters", renowned pianists, and by "Young Talents", emerging pianists.
The festival programme also includes masterclasses and conferences, targeted at music students, so that they can learn from consecrated names such as Pedro Burmester, Judith Jauregui (Spanish pianist) and Oscar Colomina i Bosch (composer/maestro, director of Menuhin School in London).
This year's headliners are the Spanish pianist José Ramón Mendez (Northwestern University, Chicago), the American Mariel Mayz (Hunter College, NY), pianist and Porto PianoFest Director Nuno Marques and the revelation of the year, the pianist Judith Jáuregui.
Porto Pianofest is coproduced by Porto City Hall.
