Porto Design Biennale Open Call for the programme Satélite

The PDB - Porto Design Biennale launched the first edition of the Open Call on satellite programmes. The event will be held from September to December 2019.

This is the first time that the country organises a Biennale with the purpose of promoting the internationalisation of design creative thinking.

Under the topic "Post Millennium Tension", the PDB 2019 aims at boosting wide thinking and debate on the millennium changes and the role of design in the face of emerging challenges.

The call summons designers, artists, architects, activists, researchers, and other cultural agents to come forward with projects in this area, in the framework of the programme "Satélites".

Every participant should put forward proposals for design themes, namely the rethinking of traditional design formats, followed by an ambitious scope and the diversity of forms of social interaction.

Projects should regard the aspects and applications of design, including identity, geopolitical, financial, technological, and environmental focus, and their debate through conferences, meetings, workshops, exhibits, installations or publications.

This PBD first edition is held in close partnership with the municipalities of Porto and Matosinhos, and it is organised by the esad-idea, Design and Art Research, the centre for research at ESAD/Escola Superior de Artes e Design.
