Porto Municipal Theatre announces research programme to the city's artists

Porto Municipal Theatre just launched a research programme for artists in the city of Porto, which envisages that circa 11 artists will be allocated 3 thousand euros, in the fields of dance, theatre, performance, contemporary circus, cross-sectional studies, writing and reflexion in the performing arts. 

Applications should be submitted till 18th May, at 6pm.

Porto Municipal Theatre established a programme to boost research work by artists that are prevented from performing their shows, due to the current pandemic.

"Reclaiming Time - Research and Development Artistic project" is targeted at artists that reside or work in the municipality of Porto, in the above mentioned areas.

Applications will be assessed by a jury set up specifically for this purpose, and results will be announced on 29th May.

Selected proposals will be organised as follows: a fisrt phase exclusively devoted to research work and a second phase to accomplish two-week long residencies, accompanying mentors (one national and another international), in a space to be announce.

The jury comprises the following elements: Cristina Planas Leitão, choreographer and Porto Municipal Theatre programme assistant, Pedro Barreiro, stage director and developer at Rua das Gaivotas 6, and artists Daniel Moreira and Rita Castro Neves.

The programme will select up to 11 artists, where each artist will be allocated 3.000 euros.
