Porto Municipal Theatre celebrates International Dance Day with online performance on 29th April

"Brother", the play by Portuguese dancer and choreographer Marco da Silva Ferreira, will be screened on the Facebook page of the Municipal Theatre. 

This day is the day that art and culture are promoted and the public is made aware of the importance of the art of dance.

Theatres have gone digital, these days, and Porto Municipal Theatre (TMP) celebrates International Dance Day with "Brother", by Marco da Silva Ferreira. The broadcasting of the performance takes place on 29th April, at 9pm at facebook.com/teatromunicipaldoporto

"Brother" - a coproduction of Porto Municipal Theatre - premiered in 2017, in the framework of the 86th Anniversary of Rivoli Theatre, and it was again presented in the third edition of DDD - Festival Days of the Dance in 2018.

This shows comes after and supplements the previous play "Hu(r)mano" (2015), a creation for seven performers, which main focus is dance as artistic, cultural and collective manifestation.

Since its debut in Portugal, it has been presented in countries such as France, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Holland and Norway.

Marco da Silva Ferreira is one of the most promising names in the contemporary dance national and international scene.

He was associated artist to TMP for the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons. He worked with choreographers André Mesquita, Hofesh Shechter, Sylvia Rijmer, Tiago Guedes, Victor Hugo Pontes, Paulo Ribeiro, just to mention a few.

He debuted as a choreographer in 2012 with "Nevoeiro 21" and, since then, he presented several shows. The "Hu(r)mano" performance earned him the "Jovem Criador Português 2015" award.
