Porto Municipal Theatre (TMP) is back this September, with the shows that were cancelled between March and July 2020, as all the cultural activity is on hold due to the current pandemic.

The Municipality of Porto determined the closing of theatres and museums as of beginning of March, namely the TMP programming; as such, all the 22 shows scheduled for this period will be rescheduled for the next 2020/2021 season, also including the Days of the Dance Festival.

Porto Municipal Theatre assumes all obligations with artists and companies, ensuring the rescheduling of the cancelled shows and also meeting peoples and artist' expectations.

Included as well are the première of several national shows as "Estro/Watts - Poesia da Idade do Rock", of Teatro Experimental do Porto in collaboration of the musician Paulo Furtado (7 and 8 November 2020); "Noite de Primavera", of Teatro Nova Europa (21 and 24 January 2021, as part of the 89th anniversary of Rivoli) and "Lágrimas de Crocodilo", by the Jovens Artistas Associados of the TMP, Guilherme de Sousa and Pedro Azevedo (December 2020, in the scope of Foco Famílias).

Regarding international shows, new dates are in place for "Canzone per Ornella" and "Postcards from Vietnam" (14 and 16 January 2021, Teatro Rivoli), by German coreographer Raimund Hoghe; and "For four walls", "RainForest" and "Sounddance", by the CCN - Ballet de Lorraine to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of Merce Cunningham (11 and 12 June 2021).

Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker - coreographer and founder of the Belgian Company Rosas - will be back to Rivoli in 2021, on 12 and 13 March, as well as French puppeteer Renaud Herbin, who will present "L'écho des creux (Eco oco)", in a date soon to be announced

The play "Eins Zwei Drei", by the Swiss Martin Zimmermann, is the only show that is rescheduled for the 2021/2022 season.

"Ready", by the contemporary circus company Erva Daninha (18 and 19 September 2020), and "Pour le meilleur et pour le pire", by Cirque Aital (30 JUne 2021), "Boas Memórias", by Patrícia Portela and "Passos em Volta", by the Company João Garcia Miguel (in a date soon to be announced in March 2021), are the other shows to be presented in the next season of TMP.

Regarding music, Capicua features her latest album "Madrepérola" on 24 October this year. Pedro Tudela and Miguel Carvalhais are back on 29th October for a concert.

The KISMIF Conference, scheduled for July, was postponed for 2021, on 6th, 7th and 8th July, at Rivoli Theatre.

All monthly programmes of the TMP, namely Quintas de Leitura, Modos de Ocupar and Cafés Literários, as well as projects developed in partnership with Matéria Prima, Lovers and Lollypops and Amplificasom (Understage), Companhia Instável (Palcos Instáveis), Medeia Filmes (Ver Primeiro), Universidade Lusófona do Porto (Olhares da Terra) and Curso de Música Silva Monteiro (New Talents), will continue its regular programming starting September 2020, as all the shows parallel activities.

"The concern of the Porto Municipal Theatre is (and will always be) the work developed by the artists, ensuring that previous commitments are honoured, in such difficult times in their lives, (?). TMP seeks to provide the necessary tools for the creative process to continue, in an open dialogue with artists, companies and partners and audiences", stated Tiago Guedes, artistic director of Porto Municipal Theatre.

The 5th edition of DDD - Festival Days of the Dance was cancelled. The organization has already contacted all artists and companies so that a new edition is prepared in 2021 featuring all scheduled performances for the 2020 edition.

The activity of Porto Municipal Theatre will be resumed on September 2020, if the sanitation rules permit. All tickets purchased for the shows between March and July 2020 are valid for the new dates announced.
