Porto City Hall promoted an activity to raise children awareness on road safety, jointly with the Mapfre Foundation, in the context of the Risk Education Municipal Programme. The goal is to teach the rules of road safety to school kids, aged 8 to 12, with the support of police officers.

Many children from schools in Porto have already been given activities and lessons on road safety at the Road safety Trailer set up in São Roque da Lameira, parish of Campanhã. The campaign is ongoing for 3rd and 5th graders, and this Friday, 31 May, the venue is open to families and public at large, as well. It runs from 9.30am until 12.30pm.

Road safety is a subject of importance and every child should know about the dangers on the road. This Municipal Programme by Porto City Hall is creating awareness through run-in assemblies and subject lessons on road safety and guidelines.

Throughout the week, students from public schools in Porto are invited to participate in several activities, both educational and recreational so as to learn about the dangers on the road.

This morning, Councillor for Education of Porto City Hall, Fernando Paulo visited the trailer to "learn" a bit more on this topic.
