Porto City Hall will take part, for the first time, in the MIPIM, the most influential international property event that brings together professionals from all sectors, in Cannes, famed for its international film festival but also for this event held every year in March.

This year marks MIPIM's 33rd edition and the event is organised from 12 to 15 March. The 4-day event will take place at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, hosted by Reed MIDEM and it includes an exhibition area, networking events and conference sessions.

The Municipality of Porto will attend MIPIM as an exhibitor, where expert-led conferences and tailored networking events will join professionals from all over the world.

The Porto City Hall strategy to attract foreign investment has been increasingly recognised at the international level, namely by the FDi Intelligence Strategy Awards 2018, which ranked Câmara Municipal do Porto (Porto City Hall) as a top fDi performer both in the "Incentives" and "Project Wins" category, the latter regarding the Vestas Wind investment in the city of Porto.

The Foreign Direct Investment Awards "bring together and celebrate the achievements of the broad community and ecosystem of players in the business of foreign direct investment", as stated by the organisation.

Porto City Hall has established a team to create a strategy to increase the level of Foreign Direct Investment occurring in the city; as such, InvestPorto was created to study key requirements, namely economic potential and business friendliness related to Porto's economic development.

The results show that the municipal policies aimed at ensuring access to local markets are very important to foreign investors.

The prize giving ceremony will be held in Cannes, at a ceremony held in the context of MIPIM, on 12 March 2019 at the Palais des Festivals, in Cannes, France.

Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira will be one of the keynote speakers at the conference "Mayors & political leaders - Think Tank", which will take place at the Majestic Hotel, on 14 de March.

On the very same day, Rui Moreira will also take part in the debate panel "Inclusion Forum: Inclusive Cities", and later that day, Ricardo Valente, Councillor for Economy, Tourism and Trade of Porto City Hall will take part in the discussion panel "Lisbon & Porto - New European and Atlantic Hubs for Investment".
