The Portuguese Symphonic Band perform at Casa da Música, on 27 June to celebrate the American harmonies.

The starting point is the “The Nutcracker”, a 1892 two-act ballet, by Tchaikovsky. The following genre is swing, by Gershwin, one of the most significant and popular American composers of all time. The Symphonic Orchestra will perform a medley of some of Gershwin’s most famous melodies, where the star instrument is the trombone.

The repertoire of the Casa da Música concerts also features Dutch composers, such as Arie Malando, who composed tangos and Kees Vlak, who devoted a piece to three famous beaches in Rio de Janeiro. The Portuguese Symphonic Orchestra performs a suite based on the amazing soundtrack by John Powell.
