FIMP - the International Puppet Festival of Porto is back to the theatres of Porto Municipal Theatre (TMP), between 10 and 18 October, featuring national debuts that will be on show on theatres and in an online format, as well.

The 31st edition of this festival devoted to animation and puppets features a total of seven shows that will take to Rivoli and Campo Alegre. On 10th October, at 5pm, the Small Auditorium Isabel Alves Costa at Rivoli hosts the absolute premiere of the show "O Cheiro do Velhos", a joint production by the Theatre Group of Centro Cultural Português do Mindelo and the Puppet Theatre of Porto.

Staged by João Branco, from a text by Caplan Neves, the writer who won the 2nd edition of the National Dramaturgy Competition, organised by the Centro Cultural Português. The play is on show on Sunday, at the same time.

Also at Rivoli, only in the Grand Auditorium Manoel de Oliveira, around 7pm, Olivier de Sagazan features "Transfiguration", a performance that translates "the history of the sculptor's unfulfilled desire to bring its creation to life".

The French artist created the show in 1998 and since then he has delivered over 300 performances in more than twenty countries. Sagazan also collaborates with artists from the fields of music and cinema, such as FKA Twigs or the film directors Mario Sorrenti, Ron Fricke, Nick Antosca or Bartosz Konopka.

Saturday closes with the national premiere of Bad Translation, by Cris Blanco, who calls upon him the task of transforming the set into an analog computer and bring digital life into the stage.

The show by the Spanish artist can be viewed online, as well, at the new virtual room of TMP, and it is the first show that gathers a selection of filmed and edited projects for the purpose of being streamed in several digital platforms.

Tickets for this session vary between six euros (online version) and 12 euros (on-site).

The Campo Alegre Theatre welcomes the play "Uma Coisa Longínqua", on 15th October, at 9pm, by Teatro do Ferro and composer Carlos Guedes.

As for absolute premières take notice: on 16th, 17th and 18th October, the Teatro Campo Alegre plays host to "Lilliput", a show targeted at families and schools, by Ainhoa Vidal, a Spanish artist residing in Portugal; and on 17th and 18th, at Rivoli, the play "Fibra", by Filipe Moreira and Lola Sousa takes to the stage.

The Understage at Rivoli will see the national debut of "Cratère 6899", by Gwendoline Robin, on 18th October, at 6pm. The show is the result of the partnership between the Belgian artist and astronomer Yeël Naze and oceanographer Bruno Delille, which led to the performance-installation on the "origins of the world".

On 17th October, TMP and FIMP promote a free masterclass with Gwendoline Robin, on the relations between matter, gesture, space and time. The workshop is targeted at fine arts students, visual artists and performers. Those interested in participating should register previously, by sending an email to paralelo.tmp@agoraporto.pt.

Tickets for the shows vary between 2. 50 euros (schools) and 12 euros (international performances).
