This is the silver jubilee of the São Silvestre in Porto. The race will happen on 30 December and gathers 15 thousand participants of 37 nationalities.

The competition comprises two distances: 10 km and the 5 km walk with non-competitive purposes. Departure and finish line are at Avenida dos Aliados and the starting pistol is set for 6 pm. The route comprises several iconic streets of the city of Porto.

Winners of the 24th previous editions were honoured during the press conference. The Liberty Seguros S. Silvestre Cidade do Porto organisation has also announced the launch of an Iberian Trophy, starting next year with the goal of establishing new dynamics and finding new sports promises, between Portugal and Spain.

The Ambassador of such initiative that will kick off in 2021 and to be held every three years will be the European Marathon Champion and World Champion, Martín Fiz.

The S. Silvestre Race also has a solidarity component, as there will be a food collection initiative for the institution "Legião da Boa Vontade". Participants are invited to bring their foodstuffs as they collect their official running bib. These items will be distributed to the most deprived.

The race is part of the Christmas and New Years' Eve programming and it is organised by Runporto, with the support of Porto City Hall.

As tradition, the Municipality has prepared a special plan regarding mobility issues, in order to ensure the necessary safety conditions.

Authorities advise using public transport to head to downtown Porto.
