There will be a book edition to mark the 7th edition of the Forum of the Future, which was cancelled due to coronavirus concerns. The event is slated for November since inception, in 2014.

The Forum of the Future is held annually in Porto with the purpose of debating crosscutting themes and launching ideas on what lies ahead. This November it will not be possible to gather for the debate, which happens for the first time since its inception, in 2014, on account of the ongoing pandemic.

Instead, there will be a book edition to mark the 7th edition of this relevant event in the city of Porto.

By suggestion of the team of curators of the Forum of the Future 2020, namely Guilherme Blanc, Director of the Department of Contemporary Art and Cinema of the municipal company Ágora, and the three invited curators, Filipa Ramos, researcher, Jenna Sutela, multidisciplinary artist, and Shumon Basar, writer, this year's edition of Forum of the Future will take the shape of a book.

This editorial proposal is partially based on the topic for the Forum of the Future 2020 edition, "Cosmos" and the way it defines contemporary artistic and scientific practices, but linking that definition with the changes the world has been facing since the pandemic broke out in the past months.

The cosmos had been announced as the theme for 2020 edition of the Forum of the Future in Porto, by Mayor Rui Moreira on occasion of the Forum of the Future closing session, at Rivoli, on 9th November 2019.

It is only appropriate to recall Rui Moreira's words that day, last year: "The Forum of the Future does not end today, it is merely interrupted and it will restart within a year".

"It will restart within a year", still stands! See you in the future!
