Artists working or residing in Porto Metropolitan Areas can, as of now, make their working space reservation at the new Campus Paulo Cunha e Silva (PCS), via the respective website. Each working space can be available up to 240 hours. In addition, there have been launched three new open calls and classes for professionals, which are due to start in September 2021.

Following the inauguration of the Campus Paulo Cunha e Silva (PCS) last week, artists are invited to settle in and get creating, by occupying the space to develop their creative residencies. The Campus is located where once was the former EB José Gomes Ferreira, located at the Travessa dos Campos, in the União das Freguesias de Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau e Vitória.

Reservations are available as of now and they represent half of the studios ‘capacity as regards cultural equipment availability. The purpose of the project, according to the artistic team in charge is “to support local artistic creation and to consolidate the professional artistic fabric, making resources and spaces of exceptional circumstances available”.

Those interested in participate should register at the website – www.campuspcs.pt – and, following validation, access a reserved area, with an hour bank system, which will be used consecutively or divided, in a minimum of four hours and a maximum of 240 hours. After exhausting that hour bank, it will renew within one month. The use of the spaces is free and the currently available period is until 3 October.

Three new Open Calls

The Campus PCS also launched three different Open Calls for artistic and technical artistic residencies, as well as for the second edition of the programme “Reclamar Tempo”. The programmes are targeted at artists and professional companies, whose work features dance, theatre, contemporary circus, animated forms and combined artistic areas, namely artistic research (reclaiming time to research, consolidating ideas, create an argument and research practices).

There are 56 weeks of artistic residencies for artists that reside on national territory, in a time period between two to eight weeks for each selected application.

There is also the possibility to perform three technical residencies at the Theatre Campo Alegre, with the support by the team of Porto Municipal Theatre, for a period of one or two weeks. This option is only available for national artists.

Following the first edition, launched during the lockdown in 2020, this is now the second edition of the programme “Reclamar Tempo”, a project whose goal is to support eight local artists/collectives, for a research period of approximately six months.

Applications for these projects can be sent until 6 pm on 2 July. All information are available at the Campus PCS website.
