The Forum of the Future kicked off yesterday and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was not found wanting! As expected, renowned Nigerian writer, as well as the award-winning author of "Americanah' and ?Half of a Yellow Sun', offered participants an enlightening and fruitful session on what to expect today regarding feminism.

The gem event in Porto runs from 3rd to 9th November in different venues all over town.

This year's umbrella theme is Crossings, leading the journey to delving on the concepts of otherness, extraction and appropriation as a means to territorial and cultural occupation, in line, as well, with the celebrated symbolism of the 500 years of the first circumnavigation of the globe and the spirit that led Magellan to sail around the world.

Today, 4th November, artist Ernesto Neto kicks off the "Artist Talks", at 5pm at Rivoli dwelling on "Spirituality, Art, Politics: We are all Blended". Neto will address his artistic practice, which takes its inspiration from the indigenous peoples. Miguel Leal, visual artists and professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts in UP - University of Porto.

Also, Calixto Neto presents "oh! rage", a session scheduled to begin at 7pm, at Porto Municipal Gallery. This performance is na extension of the "Estar vivo é o contrário de estar morto" exhibition, curated by Guilherme Blanc and Luísa Saraiva.

Later today, at 9pm, at Rivoli, Sônia Guajajara, one of the most prominent Indigenous leaders and environmental activist of the present time will address the topic of Amazonia and the prospect of the exponential destruction of the forest and its communities.
