Trindade Cinema opened in 1913 and celebrates its 3rd anniversary (yes, you read correctly!)

The Trindade Cinema opened in 1913, and it was called "Salão Jardim da Trindade". Its success was immediate and, in 1957, the venue was rehabilitated into a movie cinema and gained a new name: Cinema Trindade.

Following two decades of closed doors, the Cinema Trindade, the "only street cinema" in Porto, reopened on 5 February 2017, with two rooms (169 and 183 seats) and four daily sessions each, every day of the week.

The concept was a success and about 50 thousand people went to the movies. There will be a special programming to mark the occasion, from 5 to 16 February 2020.

The programme features daily premieres, seven documentaries and the presence of four directors, in the scope of four categories, namely "Premieres", "Focus Director", "Portugal Cinema" and "Doc-Cinema".

Américo Santos, of the organisation, stated to Lusa Agency that this 3rd anniversary is given a Cinema Festival type of profile.

The "Focus Director" features the Brazilian Karim Ainouz, whose film preview "The Invisible Life of Euridice Gusmao" marks the kick off of the anniversary celebration, on 5th February, at 9.30pm.
