The municipal programme Cultura em Expansão features two new performances in the neighbourhoods of Bouça and Miragaia, this weekend. Entrance is free, upon prior collection of the ticket two hours before the beginning of the show.

On Saturday, 3rd October, at 9.30pm, Mary Ocher takes to the stage, at the residents association of the Neighbourhood of Bouça, the traditional folk and the garage of the 60's, combining ethereal vocals and modern synthesizers, experimental pop and African and South American rhythms. The artist takes on a provocative attitude to stand up to authority, identity and conflict.

The following day, on 4th October, at 11am, the Auditorium of the Musical Group of Miragaia welcomes "Tenshô", a shadow theatre, the ancient form of storytelling by the visual artist Beniko Tanaka. Inspired by the book "Do Japão para o Alentejo" ["From Japan to Alentejo", free translation], by Tiago Salgueiro, the play recounts the arrival of the first Portuguese to Japan in the days of the samurais; the play also presents a very exciting epic that brought the first representatives of Japan to Europe in 1584 and the first Japanese Christians to Lisbon, by means of articulated flat cut-out figures.

This October, the programme "Cultura em Expansão" will also feature several other projects, namely concerts by Lena d'Água at Pasteleira and Frankie Chavez with Peixe in Miragaia, or even the dance performance "Os Serrenhos do Caldeirão, exercícios em antropologia ficcional" by Vera Mantero and the final session of the performance "Campanhã é a minha Casa". Both shows take place in Campanhã.

All shows promoted by the Municipality of Porto have limited attendance capacity and the free ticket must be collect two hours before the beginning of the performance (maximum two tickets per person).
