U.Porto ranks 11th in Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects

The University of Porto (UP) ranks 11th in the Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. The UP delivers more and better research in the areas of Sciences and Food Technology.

The UP also ranks among the top 100 universities in the areas of Chemical Engineering, Veterinary Sciences and Biomedical Engineering, according to the 2019 Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, which highlights U.Porto among the 34 best scientific subjects, and affirming itself as national leader in the twelve assessed subjects.

Widely recognized as one of the most prestigious rankings in the world, and this year, the scientific performance of over 4000 universities of 80 countries, regarding 54 subjects were assessed in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences and social Sciences.

The University of Porto stands out in the areas of Science and Food technology and it takes one position to enter the World Top Ten.

O Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2019 is once again headed by the American Universities, especially Harvard that ranks first place in 14 of the subjects assessed.

The ranking is built on scientific productivity growth indicators and the quality of the research, as well as the number of publications, edited publications in relevant journals and the number of citations. Also included is international collaboration and the academic awards conferred to the teaching staff and to researchers.
