FC Porto was awarded the UEFA prize for "Best Educational Action" within the Youth League 2018/19.

This initiative was initially carried out with U-19 players and has consisted of an educational action on financial education, in the framework of a UEFA pilot project.

The FC Porto Club decided, later on, to extend the action to all classes of formation, including the U-16 and the U-14, on various themes, namely sports betting hazards, mass manipulation in football and social networks management.

"This commitment to bring various topics to athletes' education and formation, thus contributing to the athlete's personally enriching experience has convinced UEFA to award FC Porto", as stated in the club's official webpage.

According to José Tavares, technical coordinator of FC Porto Formation, "today's football is not what happens in football fields, so it is relevant, as an academy club, that FC Porto offers its players educational opportunities in various facets. This acknowledgement by UEFA motivates us to be at our best in this path to developing an ever more comprehensive formation".
