High levels of public participation, evermore drawn to the quality and eclecticism of the programming, renowned keynote speakers and food for thought! That's right, we are talking about the Forum of the Future!

This year's Forum of the Future runs from 3rd to 9th November in different venues all over Porto and it dwells on the concepts of otherness, extraction and appropriation as a means to territorial and cultural occupation, in line, as well, with the celebrated symbolism of the 500 years of the first circumnavigation of the globe and the spirit which led Magellan to sail around the world.

Also, the impact of man's first steps on the moon will not go unnoticed. Neil Armstrong's great achievement will be something to talk about in the next edition of the Forum of the Future.

The 2019 edition of the Forum of the Future kicks off on 3rd November at 5pm, at Rivoli, featuring Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a most famous Nigerian writer whose works range from novels to short stories to nonfiction, especially known for her work on the Biafran war in Nigeria during the late 1960s.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the award-winning author of ?Americanah' and ?Half of a Yellow Sun', has just released her book "We Should All Be Feminists"; with humour and levity, Adichie offers readers a unique definition of feminism for the twenty-first century.

On 5th November, at 9pm, at Rivoli, American actor, film director, and political activist Danny Glover will address the topic of union activism. Glover is an active board member of the TransAfrica Forum and he is known for his struggle to advance equal rights.

On 7th November, Vandana Shiva, the Indian scholar, environmental activist, food sovereignty advocate, and anti-globalization activist, currently based in Delhi, will address anti consumerism and talk about the advances in the fields of agriculture and food.

Shiva has assisted grassroots organizations of the Green movement in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Ireland, Switzerland, and Austria with campaigns against advances in agricultural development via genetic engineering.

In 1982, she founded the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology, which led to the creation of Navdanya in 1991, a national movement to protect the diversity and integrity of living resources, especially native seed, the promotion of organic farming and fair trade.

These are just some of the 52 renowned invitees, from 15 countries that will be in Porto to debate the most fracturing themes on society.
