Today is World Book Day and you are invited to know Porto Digital Library. Porto Municipal Libraries offer the most relevant documents of its collection through the BPMP Digit@l (Biblioteca Digital da Biblioteca Pública Municipal do Porto).

Thousands of titles are available online at the BPMP Digit@l, accessible from anywhere in the world and at any time.

This project is targeted at promoting and preserving the vast and rich documentary collection of Porto Municipal Libraries.

It is worth highlighting the Travel Book of Vasco de Gama's first sea journey to the Indies, the codex of the Reason of State of Brazil, as well as the Alphabeto Portuguez or the New Method to Learn How to Read, the Choregraphie o Arte para Saber Danzar Todas Suertes de Danzas or the Tractado anatómico dos ossos, vasos lymphaticos e glândulas.

The collection also features illustrated postcards of the city of Porto, the literary archives of António Nobre and of Teixeira de Pascoaes, as well as a stockpile of the journals of Porto, Revista d'Hoje and Gazeta Literária.

The project of the Digital Library was created in the early 2000 and it keeps extending till today. It is accessible via the Porto Municipal library (Bibliotecas Municipais do Porto) website at the "Serviços" tab.

World Book Day is celebrated as of 1995, on 23rd April, by initiative of UNESCO.
