Cultura em Expansão features new performances in Pasteleira, Bouça and Campanhã

It is very satisfying to enter June and destress or enjoy a break with the events under the “Cultura em Expansão” project. Today, 4 June, at 9 pm, the Ring of the Association of Residents of the Social Neigbourhood of Pasteleira - Previdência/Torres hosts “Segunda-feira: Atenção à Direita!”, a performance that re-enacts a boxing match, in the framework of the project “Sete Anos Sete Peças”, by the choreographer and performer Cláudia Dias, in collaboration with the artist Pablo Fidalgo Lareo.

Porto Design Biennale translates the power of artistic processes amid the pandemic

Porto Design Biennale is a matter of artistic processes and it all started today, 2 June in-between Porto and Matosinhos. This will be so until 25 July, where people of both cities (and of other places, as well) will be able to enjoy exhibitions, workshops and performances , both in-person or following an online agenda , prepared to meet the demands of a pandemic world, still.

This is everyone’s NOS Primavera Sound 2022 line-up wish list

Today, 2 June, the festival’s line-up is announced and fans get to know that such bands as Tame Impala, Gorillaz, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Beck and Pavement go on stage between 9 and 11 June. All tickets purchased for the 2020 and the 2021 NOS Primavera Sound edition are valid for the 2022 edition.

CriArte and the vision to inspire social inclusion through classical music concerts at Escola do Cerco

The CriArte Porto project has this vison of inspiring social inclusion by means of classical music concerts, which will take place at the Escola Básica e Secundária do Cerco and features three educational concerts, namely two operas, and two choirs – a youth and an adult choir. During June, three other performances are in the agenda, with the outlining goal of hardwiring the community and erudite musicians and composers, in an informal gathering.

The creation factor: the grants under the Criatório municipal programme have been approved

The Criatório municipal programme grants were approved during the Municipal Executive Meeting on 31 May. The Criatório commenced on 16 December 2020 and will award 5 grants worth 15 thousand euros, with the goal of promoting the consolidation and establishment of artists, cultural agents and space activities in Porto and, as in previous years, to support projects in the fields of visual arts and curatorship, performing arts, composition, programming and musical performing, literature and critica

Two more exhibitions take their place at Porto Municipal Gallery on 12 June

Porto Municipal Gallery features two new projects, starting on 12 June: “Pés de Barro”, collective exhibition, curated by Chus Martínez and Filipa Ramos; and “Wall גדר جدار, by Inés Moldavski, curated by Guilherme Blanc.

Outdoor cinema cycle on Portuguese music at the Casa Comum of the Rectory

The Casa Comum of the Universidade do Porto, in partnership with IndieLisboa, features an outdoor cinema cycle on Portuguese music. Sessions are entrance free and are scheduled for 3, 4 and 5 June, at 9.30 pm, in the Patio of the Natural History and Science Museum of the University of Porto (in Cordoaria).

Concertos Promenade cycle is back and they are the idyllic Sunday event for the entire family

As we ease back into welcoming outdoor weekends, why not celebrate Sunday, 30 May, at Coliseu Porto Ageas, for the musical performance “Peter and the Wolf”, the first show under the cycle “Concertos Promenade”. The debut is narrated live by known actor and comedian Bruno Nogueira. Ticket prices range from 6 to 14 euros.

Second Shuttle tender is ongoing until 4 June

The municipal programme Shuttle second tender for 2021 accommodates applications until 4 June, by artists, authors and cultural agents based in Porto. The main goal of this project is to boost the internationalisation of the contemporary artistic scene of Porto, by financing logistic and production expenses as regards the international promotion of shows.

The most relevant music support and development projects event in the global music scene - the World Music Expo – will be held in Porto, an absolute debut in the country, between 27 and 31 October. WOMEX will introduce thousands of music makers and music lovers from over 90 countries, in the Invicta.
