Six galleries in Porto display collective exhibition to demonstrate why galleries play an important role in society

Mayor Rui Moreira visited the collective exhibition, alongside Guilherme Blanc, who also participated in the project while responsible for the department of Contemporary Art and Cinema, and were joined by the commissioner of the project, Miguel von Hafe Pérez, touring the galleries included in the collective exhibition themed “Situação 21”.

Short term loan of Aurélia de Sousa’s self-portrait to a temporary exhibition at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation

The Ministry of Culture and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation requested a loan of the work “Santo António”, by Aurélia de Sousa, to Porto City Hall. This portrait is part of the collection of the Museu da Cidade (Casa Marta Ortigão Sampaio) and is to be displayed in the temporary exhibition themed “Tudo o que eu quero – Artistas portuguesas de 1900 a 2020”.

Second edition of “Fórum do Futuro: Vita Nova” is available as of 16th April

The first edition of the book “Fórum do Futuro: Vita Nova” was launched to mark the seventh edition of the Forum of the Future, which was not held due to the ongoing pandemic. Now out of print, the book will be reprinted and will be available for purchase, as of 16th April, at the Municipal Gallery of Porto and partner entities.

“And So? The End” as well as other performances available online under the Cultura em Expansão programme

Following the “Princesa Bruxa” and “Uma Coisa Longínqua” – which is available online until 20th April -, the programme Cultura em Expansão provides two new performances, starting today, 13th April. Access is free.

Little minds at work with BMAG storytelling “Sábados a Contar”

The storytelling cycle “Sábados a Contar” is back today, 10th April, to the Almeida Garrett Municipal Library (BMAG), at 11 am. BMAG features two sessions each Saturday, under the storytelling cycle “Sábados a Contar”to families with children aged three and six years old, with the bonus theme workshop at the end of each session.

Theatre and dance at Porto Municipal Theatre’s virtual stage

Porto Municipal Theatre takes to the online stage the premieres of the works “If only this was about food + Cor de burro quando foge”, on 9th April, at 9 pm – transmitted on Facebook & Youtube TMP. The performances are available on 10th and 11th April, through the BOL Live Streaming, for 48 hours.

“Nets of Hyphae” exhibition book is launched today at Porto Municipal Gallery

“Nets of Hyphae” is also the name of the book that follows the same name display authored by Diana Policarpo and curated by Stefanie Hessler, on show at Porto Municipal Gallery, will be launched today, 9th April, at 6 pm. Participation is free, but previous registration is required.

The 7 Samurai have been announced: meet the WOMEX Jury members

WOMEX - The World Music Expo, which takes to Porto between 27th and 31st October, announced the jury of its 27th edition, also known as “Seven Samurais”. The group will actually have eight independent jurors that will be responsible for the curatorship of showcases and conferences of the most relevant musical and development projects in the global music scene.

DDD Festival is back “On Stage/At Home” and spotlights dance and national artists

The DDD – Days of Dance Festival 2021 kick starts on 20th April, with a full agenda of 22 performances, out of which 16 are world premieres or national productions, and out of the 11 coproduction, six are from the Northern Region. “The focus is on national artists” and to them Mayor Rui Moreira expressed words of thanks and gratitude “for the tremendous spirit of resistance, resilience and adaptability”.
