Artists' impressions are painted on the walls! A guided tour by Porto.

These artists from Porto use their skills to create a unique and fascinating street landscape, one that is lovely to watch. Here is a glimpse of that street work, with the prospect of an in-person visit when lockdown measures thus allow it. Rafi die Erste and Godmess honour personal storytelling or the mule pannier, aka the water baskets, which is a folk tradition for carrying the pitchers by mule to fetch water.

National Theatre São João concludes centennial celebration with online programming

The celebrations that mark the centennial anniversary of National Theatre São João (TNSJ) conclude on 6th and 7th March. The Theatre’s head office takes to the online stage “Waiting for Godot (En attendant Godot), a play by Samuel Beckett. Also, there will be talks, interviews, documentaries and other performances featured during these next two days.

Portuguese Photography Centre celebrates the 120th anniversary of Casa Alvão

Casa Alvão, an iconic establishment in the city of Porto, founded in Rua de Santa Catarina in 1901, celebrates its 120th anniversary. The Alvão Foundation collection, which covers three Portuguese political periods, namely the Monarchy, the Republic and the Estado Novo, was acquired by the Portuguese Photography Centre (CPF), which will mark the occasion with exhibitions, lectures and guided tours. On a monthly basis, the CPF offers insights on the Casa Alvão acquis on social media.

Starting on 4th March, until 1st August, the Torre dos Clérigos will provide online videos to share the most amazing facts and trivia with wannabe visitors and pretty much everyone interested in history and remembrance of historic times, as well as cultural, artistic, historical, political, technical and architectural heritage. Access is free and everyone is invited.

NOS Primavera Sound is back in June 2022: looking forward with optimism

The festival’s organisations announced today that NOS Primavera Sound 9th edition will be postponed, as it was in 2021, owing to the pandemic and to the resulting unpredictable times we live now, regarding the hosting of large events. The new date is set: June 2022.

Project “Aquisições” features selection committee and procurement dates

The project "Aquisições", which reactivated the Municipal Art Collection in Porto, already has a new selection committee for 2021, as well as dates for direct procurement of artwork to artists and art collectives. Procurement suggestions run between 1st and 15th April 2021.

Porto Design Biennale 2021 announces Open Call winners

Porto Design Biennale (PDB) revealed the eight projects that were shortlisted in the framework of the Open Call for the parallel programming. Such projects will be part of the satellite programmes, scheduled to happen in June and in July 2021. The call summoned designers, artists, architects, activists, researchers, and other cultural agents to come forward with design themes projects in the framework of the programme "Satélites".
