Today is the last day to visit the exhibit "Coliseu and the City: 75 Years of Stories" at Porto City Hall

Today is the closing date of the exhibit "O Coliseu e a Cidade: 75 Anos de Histórias" [Coliseu and the City: 75 Years of Stories]. Inspired by the aesthetic value of artist Piet Mondrian, the display demonstrates the modernist items that are part of the Coliseu Porto acquis, and also elements from the Municipal Archive and the Portuguese Photography Centre collection, some being shown for the first time.

Film cult features double session with Jeanne Balibar and Mathieu Amalric

Porto Municipal Theatre presents a journey through cult cinema, between Trieste and Porto, with Jeanne Balibar and Mathieu Amalric, on 23 January. The double session, which features two 35mm negative colour films, takes place at Rivoli and starts at 6.30 pm with the screening of "Le Stade de Wimbledon", by Mathieu Amalric, followed by the presentation of the film "Trois ponts sur la rivière" by Jean-Claude Biette at 10 pm.

Municipal Archive leads journey to 19th century Porto

The cycle "document of the month", which aims to connect the people to the history of the city of Porto features a free session at Casa do Infante, on 18 January, starting at 3.30 pm. This session will remember the Portuguese from Porto who have made their fortune in Brazil in the 19th century, also known as "brasileiros de torna-viagem" [Comeback Brazillians].

Rivoli: Celebrating 86 years

Saturday is the 86th anniversary of Rivoli, one of the landmark buildings in Porto. Since its refurbishing, the Rivoli has welcomed thousands of people to memorable performances and events. To celebrate, the Rivoli will run an anniversary programme on 20 January, stretching out pleasantly from Saturday morning to the early hours on Sunday, featuring dance, music, theatre, installation and literature.

Porto Municipal Gallery invites you to discover the António Cachola Collection

The exhibition "10000 anos depois entre Vénus e Marte" [10000 years after between Venus and Mars] from the António Cachola acquis gathers works by several artists from several generations. The display inaugurated early December and will be on show till 18 February. This exhibition is access free.

Casa da Música begins new season with Austria as the theme series

One of the best concert halls of the past years, Casa da Música (CdM) boasts a unique roll call of concerts for the 2018 season. The year Austria sets the tune for this season, on 12th January, with a concert by Porto Symphonic Orchestra Casa da Música, with Bruckner's Symphony No. 7, directed by Michael Sanderling, starting at 9 pm, at Sala Suggia.

Palace of the Arts hosts the XII Painting Biennial of the Atlantic Zone

The Palace of the Arts of the Youth Foundation in Porto hosts the XII edition of the Painting Biennial of the Atlantic Zone till 30 January. This initiative is a stimulus for artistic creation, whilst enabling the cultural exchange and the awareness of artists from the Peninsular north-western.

2018 Season Programme spotlights Porto Municipal Theatre on the international scene

2018 is the consolidation year of the Porto Municipal Theatre (TMP) affirmed mission to support local companies and artists, co-production and circulation of international works. This aspiration is accomplished with the January/July Programming for 2018, which includes 76 shows, 15 national premieres, and 14 artistic residencies working within the two centres of the TMP, namely at the Theatre Rivoli and Theatre Campo Alegre.

Festival to keep the tradition of "the singing of the Kings" alive

Starting Saturday, 12 January and till 20 January, the parishes of Aldoar, Foz do Douro and Nevogilde organise the "IV Festival de Janeiras" [IV Singing of the Kings Festival]. This event takes place at the Church of S. João Baptista da Foz do Douro, at the Main Church of S. Martinho de Aldoar and at the Church of Cristo Rei, where different choirs and groups will meet to sing the kings and celebrate the New Year, starting at 9.30 pm.
