Clérigos Tower lit up in green to honour Ireland’s foremost patron Saint

Today, 17th March, the Saint Patron of Ireland is celebrated and all across the world several tributes are paid to honour Saint Patrick. Porto is no different and the Clérigos Tower will lit in green to pay the homage to the foremost patron saint of Ireland. The green, one of the colours of the Irish flag, symbolises the Irish nationalism; the other colour of the Irish flag are the orange, symbolizing the Orangemen of the North and the white, which symbolizes peace.

Tourism campaign “O Norte Lá em Cima”: second phase will address foreign tourists

Porto Tourism Association (ATP) and Tourism of Porto and Northern Portugal (TPNP) launch a joint campaign with the goal of promoting Porto, Douro, Minho and Trás-os-Montes, as memorable tourism destinations in the country, among foreign tourists, to show the relevance of connecting to Porto and the Northern Region on a deeper level.

The tourism campaign themed ““Lá em Cima” [“Up There”, free translation], launched in July 2020, by the Porto Tourism Association (ATP) and the Tourism of Porto and Northern Portugal (TPNP), was granted awards in three categories of the Prémios Lusófonos da Criatividade (Lusophone Creativity Awards, free translation]: a Silver award for the copy, in the Production Category, and two Bronze awards in the Digital Category, for the efficacy, both for the digital campaign and the web video.

This is a top landmark in Porto and it is a statement about its history

The San Francisco Church is a gothic church located in the parish of São Nicolau, in Porto historic centre. The construction started in the 14th century as part of a Franciscan Convent, and throughout the 17th century, several altarpieces were crafted and the entire church interior was refurbished. The main gilded wood altarpieces are on display in the church.

National Geographic Traveller UK states that “whether you’re interested in the arts, culinary culture or history, 2021 brings a host of new museums, festivals and anniversaries to mark”, and Porto is the number one choice in the eight shortlisted places.
