The Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Porto (Portugal), hosts the project "Facing Europe in Crisis: Shakespeare's World and Present Challenges" this month of June. The programme runs from 17th to 29th June 2019.

The Festas de São João are all over Porto these days to pay a tribute to Saint John the Baptist, the patron Saint of the city. On 22 June, the festivities include the "rusgas", which are the traditional parades in which inhabitants of the seven parishes in Porto march throughout the city dressed in a traditional costume and singing.

On 1 July, students and circus professionals are invited to join the assembly of the "Le Vide" performance, at the Campo Alegre Auditorium. Access is free but subject to previous application.

Rui Moreira, the Mayor of Porto will be honoured with the 2019 IMCL Joseph P. Riley Award during the IMCL Conference in Portland, Oregon, USA "for his achievements as a civic leader". The conference runs from 17 to 21 June. Mayor Moreira will share his best practises regarding the city of Porto and three specific projects in the city, namely Porto Historic Center, Porto Oriental Park and the Slaughterhouse.

A popular team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net will be played this weekend in Porto City Park.

Foxtrot, written and directed by Samuel Maoz, is on show at Theatre Campo Alegre daily, at 6.30pm and at 10pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays at 3.30pm.
