U.Porto joins the Breast Cancer Awareness Month with free fitness activities

The University of Porto associates with the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), which is October and whose goal is to raise awareness on the disease and to raise funds for research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. Thus, the U. Porto offers free fitness activities to the entire community from 26th October until 30th October, under its UPFit programme.

Porto Tennis Club plays host to the International wheelchair Tennis Tournament this October

For the third consecutive year, Porto Tennis Club hosts the International wheelchair Tennis Tournament. The competition kicked off on 19th October and concludes today, 21st October. The event is included in the ITF Futures Series, and it athletes from different nationalities, namely Portugal, Brazil, Austria, Holland, Italy, Greece and France.

The Porto Saudável programme was due to restart this past Sunday, 18th October, but it has been suspended for indefinite duration under the new guidelines of the Public Health authorities.

EDP Porto Marathon takes on a virtual format and leads the way to solidarity, as well

The EDP Porto Marathon takes on a virtual format and the competition is scheduled from 2nd to 8th November. Participants can choose two distances: the Marathon distance (42 km), from the riverside Douro and the Porto, Gaia and Matosinhos Atlantic Front or the 6 km mini-marathon/Fun Race. These distances can be concluded during the entire week, i.e., according to everyone's own pace. See here for applications.

Gastão Elias is the winner of the Porto Open

The 21st edition of the Porto Open, and for the first time in the history of this competition, three Portuguese tennis players qualified for the singles final. Gastão Elias was the winner on 4th October, as Francisca Jorge lost to the Spanish tennis player Georgina Garcia-Perez.
