Desporto no Bairro and ILL Abilities break barriers through dance

The municipal programme “Desporto no Bairro, organised by Ágora – Cultura e Desporto do Porto, and implemented on the ground by Max Oliveira and his crew, the Momentum, the first professional street dance crew in Portugal, feature the closing concert of the project’s first edition, on 9th December, at 8.30pm, at Super Bock Arena- Pavilhão Rosa Mota. After three months, it’s time to take Breaking to the stage, which they will share with the international dance crew Ill Abilities.

There are only a few days to go before the final presentation of the municipal programme “Desporto no Bairro, which will join on stage the 35 finalists of the programme, the 10 b-boys and b-girls that monitor the project and the premiere of international band ILL-Abilities in Portugal. Tickets for the show are free, but reservation is mandatory (maximum 2 per person), via the email desporto@agoraporto.pt.

Porto municipal pools are granted the Covid Safe logo

The network of municipal pools in Porto are granted the Covid Safe logo, by APCER, as determined by the Authority for Working Conditions. As such, the municipal pools of Cartes and the Constituição meet the necessary health conditions.

Time to experience safe outdoor activities during the Covid-19 pandemic

The U.Porto (CDUP-UP) launches the initiative “Experiências Outdoor" this December, with sports activities such as Skate, Golf and Tennis. All sessions are held outdoors, in compliance with ongoing safety measures. Applications are open.

Ramalde Skate Park is one year old and it is in the process of expanding facilities

It is one year now that the city of Porto won its first Skate Park, in Ramalde and it has been such a huge success that the Municipality decided to enlarge its enclosure. These expansion works will be concluded early in the summer of 2021.

Volta a Paranhos turns virtual for your convenience. Applications end on 1st December

Tradition still remains strong, amid the ongoing pandemic, as the Volta de Paranhos is on, from 2 to 8 December. The Volta a Paranhos takes to the virtual format and it is open to all athletes and sports people, both from Portugal or abroad.

Outdoor time to boost stamina amid the pandemic on weekend mornings

The sports municipal programmes, organised by Ágora, are approved by the health authorities, and the weekend programmes still offer free sessions. On 21st November, the Days with Energy (Dias com Energia) programme offers Pilates, Yoga, and Tai chi, in four areas in town. On 22nd November there is the Sundays in Shape (Domingos em Forma) programme features a walk through the Oriental Park.

São Silvestre do Porto goes virtual amid the ongoing pandemic

This year, the São Silvestre race of Porto, scheduled for 26 and 27 December, goes virtual for the first time ever. Applications are open and participants can choose between the 10km race or the 5km walk. All information is available at the Runporto website.

City clubs and associations are exempt from paying to use municipal sports equipment

City clubs and associations are exempt from paying to use municipal sports equipment. This measure is in place until the year ends and it will be reassessed according to the pandemic. It includes 25 clubs in the city and a total of 11 sports categories, in 12 equipment within the municipal sports network.

The Municipal Assembly acknowledges the significance of Porto housing the Portuguese Professional Football League

The Municipal Assembly approved the barter deal regarding the trade of a municipal plot with the Portuguese Football Professional League (LPFP), on 26th October. The plot is located in Ramalde and the investment in building the new headquarter amounts to 18 million euros, which will be fully covered by the League.
