Porto Open is a top level tennis tournament at Monte Aventino

The 22 edition of the international tournament that is part of the ATP Challenger Tour and that saw the male competition elevate to ATP Challenger 80 status, will host both experienced tennis players and emerging talents competing at the Monte Aventino Sports Complex. Porto Open 2021 runs until 4 July.

Porto Beach Rugby is back to the Estádio de Praia this Saturday

One year past, the municipal company Ágora settles in the Beach Stadium, next to the Edifício Transparente. Until the end of August, the site will be the stage of a vast set of sports events, namely handball, football, foot volley and beach tennis. This weekend kicks off with another edition of Porto Beach Rugby.

Municipal sports programmes will be taken inside due to inclement weather

The bad weather forecast for this coming weekend is not suitable for outdoor activities; as such, “Days with Energy” and “Sundays in Shape” municipal programmes are taken to municipal pavilions. The sports programme promoted by Ágora, scheduled for 19 and 20 June, will be transferred to inside municipal facilities, due to bad weather conditions.

The second edition of the municipal programme “Desporto no Bairro” also features skate and surf classes, in addition to breaking. Children and youth willing to participate just have to show up in time to the previous scheduled sessions in each neighbourhood.

The beginning of May marked the comeback of the “Porto Saudável” initiative, and within 48 hours, all 220 applications made available until July were already completed. The high degree of interest from the public led Runporto, the event organiser, jointly with the Municipality of Porto, to open another 20 applications for each Sunday (10 more each group).
