Desporto no Bairro and ILL Abilities break barriers through dance

The municipal programme “Desporto no Bairro, organised by Ágora – Cultura e Desporto do Porto, and implemented on the ground by Max Oliveira and his crew, the Momentum, the first professional street dance crew in Portugal, feature the closing concert of the project’s first edition, on 9th December, at 8.30pm, at Super Bock Arena- Pavilhão Rosa Mota. After three months, it’s time to take Breaking to the stage, which they will share with the international dance crew Ill Abilities.

Jazz is served at Maus Hábitos this December

Starting on 15th December, every Tuesday evening, there will be a jazz concert cycle, curated by the Association Porta Jazz, at Maus Hábitos. The event is themed ‘Jazz à Mesa’ and will set the tone for the new project titled ‘Blind Dates’ that will replace the poetry evenings delivered by Ana Deus and more recently, Adolfo Luxúria Canibal.

The San Francisco Church is a gothic church located in the parish of São Nicolau, in Porto historic centre. The construction started in the 14th century as part of a Franciscan Convent, and throughout the 17th century, several altarpieces were crafted and the entire church interior was refurbished. The main gilded wood altarpieces are on display in the church.

Porto Municipal Gallery inaugurated the exhibit “Nets of Hyphae”. The display is authored by Diana Policarpo and curated by Stefanie Hessler, director of the Kunsthall Trondheim. Mayor Rui Moreira visited the exhibition today, accompanied by Diana Policarpo and by Guilherme Blanc, the contemporary art and cinema director of Ágora’s municipal company.

This season, Porto Municipal Theatre (TMP) launched the project PAR(S) – Artes Performativas e Imagem Online [Online Performance Arts and Image”, free translation], with the purpose of presenting both in-person and online performances. “Ø ilha” by Cláudia Varejão and Joana Castro is already available online at Porto Municipal Theatre, from 1st December to 31st December 2020.

Porto is at the forefront of Euronext’s technological innovation, says Les Echos

“Portugal is today the country where Euronext employs more people, followed by France. A dynamism brought by the opening of a Technological centre in Porto, in 2017, which employs 150 persons.” These are the opening lines of an article published by the French newspaper “Les Echos”, the first daily French financial newspaper, founded in 1908 and one of the most relevant in France.

U.Porto celebrates the best of volunteering at the university

The University of Porto and Santander Universidades will provide an early celebration of International Volunteering Day, on 4th December. This day, as recognised by the United Nations since 1985, is celebrated on 5th December; however, the UP will observe this day tomorrow morning with a webinar scheduled for 11am, with the presentation of the four winning projects of the Santander UNI-Covid19 Prize.
