Residents of the neighbourhood of Tapada organise visit to help identify rehabilitation solutions

The Residents Association of The Bairro da Tapada has invited the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira to visit the neighbourhood, in the Fontainhas area. The visit took place this week, and councillor for Housing, Social Cohesion and Education, Fernando Paulo, and the administrators of Domus Social, Filipa Melo and João Sendim, also joined the visit and shared a “grilled Sardine” meal of São Pedro, offered by the Resident’s Association.

Students’ residences by BigCity Asprela will enhance student housing in Porto

In July 2022, the number of available student residence units will reaffirm the city as a housing hub. The BigCity Asprela, a 30 million euros investment by BigCity and Reditum Capital, will bring 241 beds to the city, in an area of 10.850 square metres.

Capture the spirit of architecture with Open House Porto on 3 and 4 July

Open House Porto is back on 3 and 4 July to showcase the grandeur of the architectural heritage of four cities - Porto, Matosinhos, Vila Nova de Gaia and Maia, which enters the event for the first time. The event is organised by the Casa da Arquitectura (CA) - Centro Português de Arquitectura, jointly with the municipalities of the Porto Atlantic Front, to promote 20 years of architecture and built heritage.

Rehabilitation works of Pérgola da Foz are concluded

The renovation works of the iconic Pérgola da Foz are concluded and represent a municipal investment of circa 371 thousand euros. The Pergola’s concrete structure and the entire balcony, balustrade and ramparts were renovated, as well as the beach access ramps, from the Jardim dos Ingleses to the Esplanada do Molhe. Works were carried out by the municipal company GO Porto – Gestão e Obras do Porto.

The Government gave the green light to the drive-thru vaccination centre at the Queimódromo, located in the Parque da Cidade, which will enable, at full capacity, to give two thousand shots per day.

Casa de São Roque hosts artwork by primary-school students of Porto

“Art is beautiful and sometimes hard to understand”. This and other thoughts are shared by some of the over 500 students of the Agrupamento de Escolas do Cerco that participated in the initiative themed “Descobrir com a arte e natureza. Labirinto de ideias” [“Discovering with art and nature. Maze of ideas”, free translation]. Artwork made by 1st to 4th graders of that school were on display at the Casa de São Roque, in the space Cubo Branco.

EU Political and Security Committee is visiting Porto

A delegation of Ambassadors of the EU Political and Security Committee (COPS) is in Porto for a four-day visit to the city. The delegation was welcomed at Porto City Hall by Mayor Rui Moreira. Among the delegation are Sofie From-Emmesberger, President of the EU Political and Security Committee and José Fernando Costa Pereira, COPS Portugal Ambassador.
