Queer Porto is back in Rivoli from 13 to 17 October. This is the 6th edition of this International Cinema Festival and programme comprises as diversified and relevant film selection and activities.

Santo António Hospital in Porto marks 250 years and announces the renewal of the building façade by the Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto, with the support of Porto City Hall. Upon invitation by the Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto, the owner of the building, to join the initiative, and seeing that the renovation of this national landmark building is especially significant for the City Hall, Porto City Hall has unanimously approved the initiative.

The French Cinema Festival is back for the 2020 edition and features premieres and a selection of French films that haven't yet been released in Portugal. The festival tours four cities - Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra and Almada and it takes to the Invicta from 29th October to 4th November, at Teatro Rivoli and Cine Trindade.

Cineclube do Porto, the oldest film society in Portugal celebrates its 75th anniversary. The date is celebrated with a cycle that tells the history of cinema throughout these past 75 years, from print film to digital era. The kick off film is Vampyr (1932) by Dreyer, to be screened on 15th October. The following film selection includes movies by Orson Welles, Bresson, Godard, Coppola and films such as "Sans Soleil", "Russian Ark" and "Under the Skin".

Autumn settles in, so the municipal programme Days with Energy (Dias com Energia) and "Sundays in Shape" (Domingos em Forma) are now held indoors, in municipal pavilions to guarantee the participant's comfort.

The 33rd annual Readers' Choice Awards survey provides a clear picture about where travellers "in the world go to" and "what they loved" the most. And it is no surprise that Porto ranks 7th in this survey, a city that Condé Nast Traveler describes as "modern and traditional meeting" and where "chefs, artists, and designers are bringing a new spirit to the city's old-world appeal".

During the pandemic, especially during lockdown, the risks of a poor diet were more visible, either regarding disruptive food behaviours or obesity issues, and the resulting diseases. Experts will explain how a balanced nutrition can help fight infections, the importance of food choices in intestinal microbiota and the connection between sedentariness and problems with weight.

This activity by the CAD VIH/SIDA Porto is held under the action plan of the Municipality of Porto themed "Porto, Cidade Sem Sida" ["Porto, City without Aids", free translation]. Its main goal is to provide the suitable answers to local needs, thus helping to meet the strategy 90-90-90 goals set by the Municipality in May 2019.

FIMP - the International Puppet Festival of Porto is back to the theatres of Porto Municipal Theatre (TMP), between 10 and 18 October, featuring national debuts that will be on show on theatres and in an online format, as well.

This coming Saturday, 10th October, the association Espaço T features another edition of its Mercado de Vilar, an event that provides items and goods offered by known Portuguese brands with the purpose of raising funds to the institution's activities.
