Porto City Hall celebrates its Historic Centre from 25th to 31st March, with an agenda that includes initiatives developed in collaboration with different social agents. The highlight is the presentation of the Management and Sustainability Plan for Porto Historic Centre.

Porta-Jazz live streams “Meia-maratona” this weekend

This weekend, on 20th and 21st March, the Porta Jazz Association live streams six jazz concerts of 2019 and 2020. This event is themed “Meia-Maratona”, and it is available at the Munin Live international streaming platform.

Sailors from Porto make the 470 an Olympic Sailing and were welcomed by Mayor Rui Moreira

Portuguese sailors from Porto, the brothers Diogo and Pedro Costa will represent Portugal in the Tokyo Olympic Games. The sailors are brothers and both graduated in Civil Engineering. They were welcomed at Porto City Hall by Mayor Rui Moreira, who was also a professional sailor.

Formosa and Alexandre Braga streets are open to public transport circulation

The streets of Formosa and Alexandre Braga, which were closed to traffic since 25th January, owing to the works at the Bolhão Market ancient building, are now open. Also, this was the day that a gigantic canvas was placed all around the working site of Bolhão, depicting all the familiar faces of Bolhão traders.

Book loans and take away service as people return to Public Municipal Libraries

Porto Municipal Libraries are now open, as of 15th March, owing to the easing of restrictions. The novelty is that Municipal Libraries card holders have access to bookshelves for book loans.

First Portugal Fashion virtual shows commence today

Portugal Fashion kicks off today, with an exclusively online format. “The Sofa Edition” offers what is next in Portuguese fashion, for the coming evenings. Today with the screening of the videos with the autumn/winter collections by Maria Carlos Baptista, Estelita Mendonça, Katty Xiomara, Inês Torcato, Maria Gambina, Miguel Vieira, Ernest W. BEAST International Film Festival 4th edition takes to the online platforms

BEAST, the festival from Porto that showcases films by Eastern Europe filmmakers and Portuguese directors, who reside outside the country, will be held online, in partnership with the Streaming Filmin platform. This year, BEAST is devoted to Romania and kicks off on 24th march, and runs until 4th April.

Another 1200 student residence units in the city reaffirm Porto as a student housing hub

Student accommodation in Porto will be enhanced, with two university campus inaugurating in Asprela: the Miranda Oporto, which will start running in the beginning of the school year, and the Liv Porto – The Street, which will be concluded in 2022. The investment in the university campus is by Valeo Management Europe, of the American group Valeo.

Gate open: Ryanair announces Porto – Bremen new route and resumes operations starting 28th March

Airliners are resuming operations owing to the easing of pandemic restrictions. Porto International Airport, Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport will see Ryanair flying again, starting on 28th March. This announcement follows the latest news by Turkish Airlines that it will resume operations to and from Porto by the end of March, as well.

Clérigos Tower lit up in green to honour Ireland’s foremost patron Saint

Today, 17th March, the Saint Patron of Ireland is celebrated and all across the world several tributes are paid to honour Saint Patrick. Porto is no different and the Clérigos Tower will lit in green to pay the homage to the foremost patron saint of Ireland. The green, one of the colours of the Irish flag, symbolises the Irish nationalism; the other colour of the Irish flag are the orange, symbolizing the Orangemen of the North and the white, which symbolizes peace.
