Porto PianoFest boosts cultural exchanges in Porto and in Manhattan

Porto PianoFest festival is back in Porto as of 1st August and runs till 9th August. Concerts and recitals will be held at Casa da Música, at the Rectory of the University of Porto and at the Palácio da Bolsa. Stay tunned.

Casa das Artes, in Porto, features a Beethoven concert, under the cycle "À Sexta com Beethoven" ["Fridays with Beethoven", free translation]. Entrance is free but subject to room capacity.

The Liberal Cause in the city of Porto or that time in History when Porto rescued the nation

The beginnings of the Liberal Revolution in Porto and the first year of that revolution is portrayed in the exhibition "1820. Revolução Liberal no Porto", which inaugurates on 20th February, at 6pm, at the "Gabinete do Tempo" of the City Museum - Casa do Infante. This event is access free.

The work of Arthur Jafa inaugurates in Serralves

The American video artist and cinematographer, Arthur Jafa, inaugurates his latest exhibition in the Serralves Foundation, this Thursday, 20th February, at 10pm. The exhibition themed "A Series of Utterly Improbable, Yet Extraordinary Renditions (Featuring Ming Smith, Frida Orupabo and Missylanyus), will be on show in Serralves, from 21th February till 21st June this year.

Portuguese novelist and medical doctor António Lobo Antunes is the Author of the Month at Lello Bookstore, on 15 February, at 9.30pm. Entrance is free, but limited to room capacity.

Word and Utopia by Manoel de Oliveira in Serralves

The film Word and Utopia ("Palavra e Utopia", in the original) by Manoel de Oliveira, is screened at the Casa do Cinema Auditorium, in Serralves, on 16 February. The screening is scheduled for 5pm, and the session is presented by the actor Luís Miguel Cintra, who plays Padre António Vieira in his middle life.

40th Fantasporto finds its fans from 25th February to 8th March at Rivoli

Fantasporto - International Film Festival of Porto is held at Rivoli, from 25 February to 8 March. The 40th edition of Fantasporto features films from 37 countries, four competitive sections and screening sections. For 13 days, cinema-goers will have the opportunity to discover films from Portugal, South Korea, USA, Canada, Sweden, Mexico, Philippines or Uzbekistan.

TNSJ celebrates one century with an "almost" resident company

As of March, celebrations kick off to mark 100 years of the TNSJ, in Porto, which includes the Rehabilitation Programme in the framework of the NORTE 2020 Operational Programme.
