CIBIO Porto strengthens partnership with Angola for biodiversity research

The CIBIO-Centre for Research in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources, in Porto and the National Institute of Biodiversity of Angola have signed a Cooperation Agreement, on 21 May, regarding the exchange of technical and scientific information, joint research and the support in the establishment of specialized labs of molecular biology.

Porto was acknowledged for its capability to attract and retain the top-talent by Bloom Consulting. Filipe Roquette, Director-General of Bloom Consulting for Portugal was at Porto City Hall on 23 May to present the award to Mayor Rui Moreira and to formalise the credit of the work carried out by the municipality of Porto in these past years, in a survey that included all 308 municipalities of Portugal.

Porto Customs showcases three international exhibitions until July

For the first time, Porto Customs hosts three international exhibits, including ESCHER, which will be on display till 28 July 2019; BANKSY, produced by Banksy's Dismaland and Others - by Barry Cawston, on show till 28 July 2019 and THE HUMAN BODY- Living Science on show till 31 July 2019. These exhibts have been visited, so far, by circa 60 million people.

Alumnus from the UP developed the Aequitas to detect discrimination on intelligent systems

Alumnus from FEUP developed the Aequitas, a tool to detect discrimination on intelligent systems. The Aequitas is targeted at data scientists and government entities and has even been mentioned in an article of the prestigious Nature magazine. This tool was developed at the Data Science and Public Policy and it is user free.
