Portuguese scientists have been spotlighted by several scientific bodies of research. Many of those lead their researchers from Porto. The “Highly Cited Researchers” 2020 index, by Clarivate Analytics, an American company that has acknowledged over 6.100 researchers, from 60 countries and regions, in 21 fields of research.

The project “Adventário”, which translates as the Calendar of the Advent, was organised by the municipal company Ágora to bring the magic of Xmas to everyone’s homes during December. It is now available on video. Well-known personalities told Christmas stories each day, from 1 to 24 December, at 9.30pm. Time to check them out! Enjoy!

The public tender for the rehabilitation of the Quinta do Mitra was launched on 21st December. Proposals are taken until 23:59’ of 26th January 2021. The goal of the project is to rehabilitate the outdoor enveloping area, as well as the inside space of the Quinta do Mitra, transforming it into a large public space, easily accessible and as an extension of the urban park that frames the future Terminal Intermodal of Campanhã. The municipal investments amount to circa 1.2 million euros.

Despite the unprecedented times, the circus show is in town as tradition, featuring unique acts and performers. Coliseu Porto Ageas welcomes audiences from 11th December 2020 to 3rd January 2021.

Gifting culture is not only a new way of changing consumerism habits, but it is also a way of helping a sector in distress in these unprecedented times.

Customers still have till the 23rd December to accept the challenge “Natal no Bolhão 2020” by the Mercado Temporário do Bolhão (MTB), ongoing on social media, and take the prize: a charming kit of Xmas goodies that includes lunch boxes, kitchen ware, shopping bags or recycling bins.

Most people probably think that in order to join a band, one must throw away textbooks and devote totally to music. Nothing could be farther from the truth! The band from Porto and from FCUP and FEUP show just that: while studying for exams, the band just released the EP ‘Relatively Speaking’, which is available as of 7th December, on Spotify and on YouTube. Their CD is also available and it is a unique Xmas gift for music lovers.
