The Municipal Library Almeida Garrett (BMAG) offers Christmas Tales and Creative workshops on 22nd December, at 11am. The activity is targeted at children over the age of three. The session takes about 1 and a half hour and children must be accompanied by one adult. Prior application is mandatory via the email bmp@cm-porto.pt.

It feels like finding that little something to make this a special season, despite all the pandemic mood; as such, Espaço t opens doors, as tradition, to accommodate the ”Mercado do Vilar: Oportunidades de Sonhar”, aka the best stocking fillers dream presents. The market is open on 12th and 13th December, between 10am and 1pm.

The festive season is not the same without the merriment of Xmas markets and fairs; and while complying with all the protective health measures to help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, it is still possible to visit these traditional stalls and find that one gift you’ve been longing for.

For three months, the Momentum crew and its director, Max Oliveira, together with Ágora Porto worked with kids from eight neighbourhoods in Porto: Aldoar, Fonte da Moura, Viso, Ramalde, Cerco, Lagarteiro, Pasteleira, and Pinheiro Torres. Circa 500 kids learned a different lifestyle, a healthier one and literally have broken boundaries, as now they know they can follow dreams.

The HIV/AIDS screening actions are carried out by the Centro de Aconselhamento e Deteção Precoce do VIH/SIDA do Porto (CAD VIH/SIDA Porto), which is the Counselling Centre for the earlier diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, both within its mobile unit and in the stationary unit. Know where the mobile unit will be this month of December, in Porto.

The Municipality of Porto just launched the HIV/AIDS G.P.S. (Guia Porto Sem, aka “Guide Porto Without”, free translation) guide braille version. This way, people who are blind or that have low vision are also aware of the useful information regarding HIV/AIDS. As has happened with the English version of the guide, this version will also be handed out freely through several entities in the city.

The Christmas Window competition is back this 2020, and it runs until 17th December. The jury of the competition received 145 applications, but as much as 138 entries made it to the contest for best ornamented Xmas shop window, as seven applications were not appropriated or were cancelled by the shop owners.

From 11th December to 3rd January, the traditional Christmas Circus is back to Coliseu do Porto Ageas with 20 artists, absolute premiers, the famous Portuguese clown Rui Paixão and a live orchestra, conducted by maestro Cesário Costa.

Starting on 15th December, every Tuesday evening, there will be a jazz concert cycle, curated by the Association Porta Jazz, at Maus Hábitos. The event is themed ‘Jazz à Mesa’ and will set the tone for the new project titled ‘Blind Dates’ that will replace the poetry evenings delivered by Ana Deus and more recently, Adolfo Luxúria Canibal.
