São João do Porto was elected Best Festivity of the year at the Iberian Festival Awards

The festivities of São João do Porto, aka St John in Porto have been selected "Best Festivity" under the Iberian Festival Awards 5th edition, which was held this past Saturday, 17th October. The ceremony was held online, owing to the new coronavirus pandemic.

EDP Porto Marathon takes on a virtual format and leads the way to solidarity, as well

The EDP Porto Marathon takes on a virtual format and the competition is scheduled from 2nd to 8th November. Participants can choose two distances: the Marathon distance (42 km), from the riverside Douro and the Porto, Gaia and Matosinhos Atlantic Front or the 6 km mini-marathon/Fun Race. Unpublished work by Álvaro Siza marks the opening of the Marques da Silva Foundation

Unpublished work by the first Portuguese Pritzker Prize, Álvaro Siza, will be on display in the city of Porto, starting 17th October. Two exhibitions will mark the opening of the Foundation Marques da Silva (FIMS): "Siza - Inédito e Desconhecido" and "Mais que Arquitetura" are the telling exhibits that open doors to the Casa-Atelier and the Palace Lopes Martins. Entrance is free on the day of the opening - 17th October - and the exhibitions can be visited between 2pm and 6pm.

The masterpieces of Akira Kurosawa on show at Campo Alegre

One of the most acknowledged Japanese filmmakers in the West, Akira Kurosawa produced renowned filmography, which are on display at Campo Alegre Municipal Theatre, from 17th September till 30th October. Seven films, in digital restored copies, five of which were never presented in a movie theatre in Portugal, will be screened at Porto Municipal Theatre - Campo Alegre.
