International Children's Day enlivens the Park of São Roque with three fun fat days

This year, International Children's Day is celebrated in the eastern part of the city. The Park of São Roque will play host to this special celebration, delivering three fat days of fun and excitement. From 1 to 3 June, the Children's Party has prepared a wide offer of sport and recreational activities, performances, workshops and exhibitions and even a market.

Japanese architect Kengo Kuma to frame the Matadouro in Campanhã

The master mind behind the New National Stadium, in Tokyo, host to the opening ceremonies of the 2020 Olympic Games, Kengo Kuma, will "recover the place", the place being the Matadouro (former slaughterhouse) in Campanhã. The concession was granted today and the notice was both published in the website of Porto City Hall and the newspaper of the municipality.

Serralves em Festa warm-up in downtown Porto with a colourful display of sight and sound

As usual, the "Serralves em Festa" kicks-off the day before the official opening, on 31st May in downtown Porto with a colourful display of sight and sound, parading through Santa Catarina Street and presenting a contemporary dance performance in the Santo Ildefonso Square.

More than 5 500 visitors were able to admire the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Verdades since the reopening

Porto City Hall decided to refurbish the chapel a couple of months ago, and this has proven a very positive initiative as thousands of tourists and visitors visited this 17th century temple, especially the pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. In two months, more than 5 500 visitors were able to admire the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Verdades.

Angela Merkel visits the University of Porto

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Portugal on 30 and 31 May. This visit follows an invitation from Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa. The programme of the official visit includes a visit to i3S - Investigation and Health Research Institute in Porto. The German Chancellor will also meet PhD students in the context of the "Meeting with Citizens" initiative.

Frantz by François Ozon screened at Campo Alegre Municipal Theatre

François Ozon directed "Frantz", a drama film whose plot unveils in the aftermath of WWI. Anna, a young German has the daily routine of visiting the grave of her fiancé, Frantz, who was killed in the war. One day, she encounters Adrien, a mysterious Frenchman who also visits her fiancé's grave.

BTT Bike tours on the old part of Porto on 10th June

The 14th "Porto Antigo" [Old Porto] tour is set for 10th June and registrations are already open. Like in previous editions, the mountain bike route (BTT) will ride through the streets and alleys of Porto, passing through the most emblematic areas of the city.
