This June, the initiative “Sábados a Contar” is back to the Almeida Garrett Municipal Library (BMAG). Reading sessions are aimed at children aged 3 and 6 and take place at the Sala de Leitura Infantojuvenil, aka Youth Literature Reading Room at the BMAG, for the “Hora do Conto” (“Tale Time”, free translation] that precedes the usual workshop on the book of the day.

U.Porto finalists on the race for the Ecotrophelia 2021 Award

Students of the University of Porto have developed five out of the ten products that made it to the Ecotrophelia 2021 Prize finalists. This award aims at distinguishing and promoting the most eco-innovator food products by university students.

Start walking with Porto Saudável

The beginning of May marked the comeback of the “Porto Saudável” initiative, and within 48 hours, all 220 applications made available until July were already completed. The high degree of interest from the public led Runporto, the event organiser, jointly with the Municipality of Porto, to open another 20 applications for each Sunday (10 more each group).

National Theatre São João presents KastroKriola, by Caplan Neves

KastroKriola, written by the Cabo Verdean playwright Caplan Neves, is the remake of the work “Castro”, short for “Tragédia muy sentida e Elegante de Dona Inês de Castro”, by António Ferreira, written in 1587. Caplan Neves presents the text in creole from Cabo Verde, and tries to unveil how a classical text will symbolically resonate in today’s Cabo Verde.

Uplifting Campus Paulo Cunha e Silva is inaugurated on the day the former councillor for Culture would celebrate its 59th anniversary

The Campus extends for exactly 900m2. The former Escola Básica José Gomes Ferreira, the classrooms and even outdoor spaces transformed into creative studios and spaces that will be utilized by the city’s artistic community. The Campus Paulo Cunha e Silva is the new residency centre for performing arts and the doors are open.

The repairs and improvements at the Rua do Dr. Vasco Valente, in the parish of Ramalde are now completed. The intervention aimed to rehabilitate and to modernize street space and the surroundings of the residential area, namely pavements and pedestrian access, as well as road signposting.

Porta-Jazz 11th edition is back in Porto this July and aims to deliver a wellbeing of music festivals

The Porta-Jazz inspiring festival is back in Porto from 23 to 25 July. These will be three-full days aimed at delivering a wellbeing of music festivals to both musicians and audiences. The new meeting point is the Gardens of the Palácio de Cristal, as it was originally planned to take place at the Rivoli Theatre, last February.
