Porto Municipal Art Collection adds 15 new works by artists of the city

Porto City Hall will acquire 15 new works to add to the Municipal Art Collection of Contemporary Art, in the scope of the direct buying modality of artists of the project “Aquisições”. This was the decision by the current Selection Committee, which includes Eduarda Neves, João Sousa Cardoso and Pedro de Llano, who have assessed 145 submissions.

The new Campus Paulo Cunha e Silva (PCS) is available for working spaces reservation

Artists working or residing in Porto Metropolitan Areas can, as of now, make their working space reservation at the new Campus Paulo Cunha e Silva (PCS), via the respective website. Each working space can be available up to 240 hours. In addition, there have been launched three new open calls and classes for professionals, which are due to start in September 2021.

Trengo is back in town and with it the sheer joy of appreciating stunts and circus arts

Trengo - Porto Circus Festival is back from 28 June to 4 July. This edition, witness all ten shows that will take to the Parque do Covelo and the Theatre Rivoli. This Trengo is a family version show that features 19 presentations, organised by the company Erva Daninha, jointly with Ágora – Cultura e Desporto.

Debate on the diplomacy of the cities joins Porto and Athens

Rui Moreira participated in the second “Public Diplomacy Talks” event, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece. The main topic of the debate, which took to the online format, between the Mayor of Porto and Athens City Hall, Kostas Bakoyannis, was the diplomatic role of cities at global level.

Missão Férias@Porto applications are open with fun and educational activities for all

The Missão Férias@Porto is on between 12 July and 3 September, and it is targeted at youth from 6 to 15 years old, whether they reside or not in the city of Porto. Applications run exclusively online and open today, 21 June, starting at 10 am.

Alberto Giacometti and Peter Lindbergh’s groundbreaking exhibition at the Museu da Misericórdia

The exhibition themed “Alberto Giacometti - Peter Lindbergh. Seizing the Invisible” brings to Porto, for the first time ever, unseen photographs of the Swiss visual artist, Alberto Giacometti, captured by the German photographer Peter Lindbergh. It will be on display at the Museu da Misericórdia do Porto (MMIPO) until 24 September.

Porto Beach Rugby is back to the Estádio de Praia this Saturday

One year past, the municipal company Ágora settles in the Beach Stadium, next to the Edifício Transparente. Until the end of August, the site will be the stage of a vast set of sports events, namely handball, football, foot volley and beach tennis. This weekend kicks off with another edition of Porto Beach Rugby.

Round table on the new degree on AI and Data Science organised by the FCUP and the FEUP

The FCUP and the FEUP will debate the state of play regarding the new degree in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The Round Table gathers on 21 June and joins several experts, from companies and from the academia, to answer questions such as “what are the needs of companies operating in these domains?”, “who are the experts that work in the field of AI and Data Science?”. The Round Table starts at 4.30 pm, at the FCUP’s Library and will be streamlined live via the FCUP YouTube channel.

Municipal sports programmes will be taken inside due to inclement weather

The bad weather forecast for this coming weekend is not suitable for outdoor activities; as such, “Days with Energy” and “Sundays in Shape” municipal programmes are taken to municipal pavilions. The sports programme promoted by Ágora, scheduled for 19 and 20 June, will be transferred to inside municipal facilities, due to bad weather conditions.

The Municipality of Porto launches innovative application to explore the city in real time

The Municipality of Porto created a new service, the Explore Porto, which challenges both residents and visitors to explore the city in a different manner. This is the first time that a unique platform provides real time information on transports and other highlights. This service was created to provide useful and reliable information on mobility and areas of interest in Porto, thus ensuring the shift from a static planned information system to a real time information system provider.
