Philip Zimbardo, one of the most influential psychologists in the world, and emeritus Professor of the University of Stanford, will be in Porto, at the Portuguese Catholic University, on 6th September, at 4.30 pm, to lecture on "My journey from creating evil to inspiring heroism".

House Museum Guerra Junqueiro offers guided free tours to the exhibition themed "Encontros", by Günter Grass, at 3 pm, on 22nd August.

PortoCartoon 20th anniversary is the motto for an exhibition at the International Humour event of Piracicaba, S. Paulo, Brazil, at the end of August.

The Carrer Joan Blanques de Baix Street, in Bairro da Gracia, Barcelona, displays the iconic and extraordinary Lello Bookshop's facade, in the competition for best décor to the street. This event takes place in one of Barcelona's most creative neighbourhood and it is held in the context of the Major de Gracia celebrations, till 21 August.

HHY & The Macumbas are headed to Nyege Nyege, East Africa's new wave and largest Electronic Music Festival, on the banks of the river Nile, near Lake Victoria spring, Uganda, from 6 to 9 September. For four days, a new generation of artists embraces technologies (smartphones, internet, laptops) now within reach, even though internet coverage is still costly and slow.

August is also holiday movie season at Museu Soares dos Reis (MNSR), with a mini cinema cycle. This is an outdoor programme and it will be held from 16th to 30th August. Entrance is free.

Porto was host to the 9th International Symposium of Urban Sketchers, which gathered 800 participants from 50 different nationalities, from 18th to 21st July. This event was targeted to sketchers of all levels, experience, and backgrounds, and its main goal is to celebrate and practice the art of on-location sketching in the city of Porto.

The month of August in the city of Porto offers outdoor jazz concerts in the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal. All concerts are free entry.

From Friday to Sunday, Porto City Hall celebrates International Youth Day (IYD) with several activities targeted at young people.

After the holiday break, the Municipal Theatre New Season is announced in September. The opening party is set for 6th September and it will unveil the 2018-19 Season programming. This event is free entry and it starts at 7 pm.
