Porto City Hall joins other 230 organisations that have joined the initiative "Liceu a la Fresca", rebroadcasting outdoors and in a giant screen one of Giacomo Puccini's most successful work, the opera "Manon Lescaut". The broadcasting is scheduled for Saturday, starting at 10.15 pm, at the Amor de Perdição Square, in Cordoaria, next to the Portuguese Photography Centre. Access is free.

The Jazz Orchestra of Porto takes part of the Cultura em Expansão Programme, on 16th June to talk and hear about jazz, sonorities and stories to share with Pasteleira residents, starting at 9.30 pm.

As is tradition during the celebrations of the São João, there will be folklore dancing in Porto, scheduled to start at 3 pm. The folklore groups will departure from several sites in the city, and nine folkdance groups will enliven the city with cheerful music and good vibes. The groups will parade through the city main streets and avenues in downtown Porto, and everyone's invited to celebrate the patron saint of the city, São João.

Today's the Day. The World Cup Russia 2018 kicks off today and Cordoaria will get the ball rolling for you. A giant screen was set up at Cordoaria, at the Square of Amor de Perdição, in front of the Portuguese Photography Centre for the live transmission of the matches.

The School of Biotechnology of Portuguese Catholic University in Porto will be given financial support of 50 million euros to develop research in the field of oil alternative sources of energy. This is the most important financial support ever provided to research in Portugal, to project both the academia and the market.

Victor Hugo Pontes features the performance "Margens" [Margins] at Campo Alegre, inspired by the novel "Capitães da Areia [Captains of the Sands] by Brazilian writer Jorge Amado.
