The Fantasporto has been celebrating the film industry for the past 38 years. This year, the "Fantas" honours the world of cinema, under the motto "Grande Cinema do Mundo" [World Film Industry]. This years'edition will kick-off on 20 February and it will debate ethics, honour Lauro António and bring to the Rivoli a selection of almost 120 films from more than 60 countries.

The "Anuário" [yearbook] takes as its starting point the intention to document and to examine artistic activity in Porto for a year. The exhibit constitutes one of the pillars for municipal platform PLÁKA, focused on contemporary art production in Porto. This display is supervised by the newly appointed Director of Serralves Museum, João Ribas and by Guilherme Blanc, Assistant of Mayor of Porto for Culture.

The Systems and Computer Engineering Institute of Porto (INESC TEC) leads the European Project which aims to develop a mobile application that helps users save power by changing some of their daily habits.

Marco Martins often observed how actors would indeed spend the in-between moments of shows, be it at lunchtime or during breaks, and how they would memorize the lines for a TV show, a soap opera, or a TV commercial, so this show was put together to materialise, so to speak, the curiosity and the inquisitiveness on how actors spend their time backstage.

The Cité des Métiers in Porto is a project promoted by Porto City Hall within the scope of employability and entrepreneurship and it is setting presence at the Cité des Métiers International network, which will take place in Paris on 8 and 9 February. Porto city Hall challenges innovation and entrepreneurship communities to start the enrolment process of ScaleUp Porto., aimed at supporting Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology. The overall amount devoted to the selected proposals is seventy thousand euros.

The exhibit "Álvaro Lapa: No tempo todo" [Álvaro Lapa: All of Time], which gathers the most thorough retrospective work of the artist (Évora, 1939 - Porto, 2006) ever presented, opens on 8 February at the Serralves Museum. Self-taught artist and writer, Lapa first studied Law and a couple of years later he pursues studies in Philosophy, travelling to Paris where he engages with surrealism artists.

The German film by Andres Veiel is an archive-based film that offers insights on the life and art of Joseph Beuys. The film premieres on 8 February at Campo Alegre Theatre.

Porto created the "Porto de Tradição" programme in 2016, which is pioneering in the country (prior to Law No. 42/2017 of 14 June) by establishing the safeguard of historical stores and institutions in the city. At a seminar on historical shops in Porto, sponsored by Porto city Hall, Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto reaffirmed that the historic and cultural heritage of traditional stores in the city of Porto is a matter of concern for the municipality.

Following the reopening of Cinema Trindade, which still is the "only street cinema" in Porto with daily sessions, the concept was a success and about 50 thousand people went to the movies. There will be a special programming to mark the occasion.
