Notes and study documents by Manoel de Oliveira are compiled in a book

The Casa da Música Manoel de Oliveira officially launched the book “Ditos e Escritos”, featuring study documents and notes by the renowned Portuguese filmmaker Manoel de Oliveira, on 16 June, at Casa do Cinema, in Serralves. This will be the first of many publications that that institution intends to launch to disseminate the "extensive acquis” of the filmmaker, who passed away in 2015, at the age of 106.

July is just around the corner, and with it, three amazing Saturdays that offer jazz lovers the opportunity to go back to amazing outings to the sound of swing and blue notes, polyrhythms and improvisation. This will also be the time to celebrate 30 years of the Jazz in the Park programme.

Here comes Trengo: the Circus Arts are back in Porto

Porto Circus Festival aka Trengo is back from 28 June until 4 July. This edition will take ten shows to the Parque do Covelo and the Theatre Rivoli. The festival is organised by the company Erva Daninha, jointly with Ágora – Cultura e Desporto.

Museu da Cidade presents new exhibition to the city at the “Extensão do Douro”

The “Extensão do Douro”, a station of the Museu da Cidade in Porto, opened doors on 25 June. This reopening was marked with the inauguration of the exhibition “Douro: Terra e Atmosfera”, and was attended by the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira. It can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10 am and 5.30 pm.

“For better or for worse” with Cirque Aital at the Rivoli

Figure the following: a couple United by the circus arts that invites audiences to enter the realm of… Circus! This couple, Victor and Kati, literally lie on the floor, they scream for human life, from tears to laughter, happy, sad … Pour le meilleur et pour le pire (For better or for worse). In-person performances, on 30 June, at the Rivoli, at 7.30 pm; online, on 2 and 3 July (available as of 5 pm, on 2 July).

Take time to visit the exhibition “A Herança do Lugar” at the Portuguese Photography Centre

The Portuguese Photography Centre marks its 20th anniversary, located at the former Prison and Court of Appeal of Porto with the exhibition themed “A Herança do Lugar", which will be on display between 25 June until 7 November, at the room Aurélio da Paz dos Reis.

North Music festival confirms One Republic for 1 October

Following the postponing of the event, the good news keep rolling as regards the North Music Festival, which will be held from 30 September to 2 October 2021, at Porto Customs, confirms the band One Republic for the line-up, on 1 October.

Roadshow Xacobeo celebrates the Holy Year Compostela in Porto

This year, the historic celebration of the voyage of the Apostle Santiago’s body from Israel to Galicia, Spain will be extended for two years, and Porto will be one of the last landing points during the Iacobus Maris regatta, which features 3400 nautical miles and sailboats. The regatta is due to arrive to the Invicta on 17 July 2022, but in the meantime, the Roadshow Xacobeo 21-22 can be visited at the Praça de Parada Leitão, in Porto, from 25 June, until 27 June, between 10 am and 6 pm.

Acknowledge the city’s cultural scene, on 26 June, with Ping!

The next Walk, in the scope of Ping! Incursion programme, the Exodus initiative with Vera Carmo, happens on 26 June, between 4 pm and 7 pm, and invites to acknowledge local art between Boavista and downtown, in Porto. The meeting point is the Maus Hábitos, at Rua de Passos Manuel, 178, 4º.
