Rui Pedro Silva won the men's race for the seventh time and the winner of the women's competition was Catarina Ribeiro. One of the most emblematic and oldest running events in Portugal, the Saint Silvester Road Race (Corrida de São Silvestre in Portuguese) is inspired by the one from Brazil, regarded as the major international athletics events in Latin America.

Porto City Hall presented the Urban Rehabilitation Operation of the Campanhã-Station ARU, defined in June 2015. The action program foresees a deep refurbishment and urban rehabilitation operation, with an overall investment of around 75 million euros over a period of ten years.

Porto is a Reference Site for Healthy Ageing in the European Union

On December 7, the city of Porto was recognized European Reference Site for active and healthy aging, with a two-star rating, in a ceremony, held in Brussels. Organic crop production in municipal veg gardens

The City Hall encourages people to start vegetable gardens in public spaces as an innovative way of using public space with nutritionally valuable vegetable plants that also contribute to local food security. The most significant veg garden is located in Campanhã, in Horta da Oliveira, with 95 plots.
