Women's Run raises awareness for breast cancer in Campanhã

The EDP Women's Run takes place on May 20th, with a race track entirely set in the district of Campanhã. The fundamental aim of the race is to raise awareness on Breast Cancer and promote physical activity in the female population. Eighteen thousand women have already registered, but the goal is to reach twenty two thousand applications, plus two thousand than last year's edition.

Turkish Airlines accelerates operations in Porto

Turkish Airlines is the sole air carrier to operate direct flights between Porto-Istambul. The experience of the past three years, since operations started, has been largely positive and, as such, the company officials sought this is the perfect opportunity to rethinking their professional position in the city of Porto. In order to be close to partners and to the city itself, the airliner has set up new offices in the Foz area, in Porto.

International summit on smart cities in Porto

Classic automobiles will speed up Porto Street Stage

As was the case two years ago, the Porto Street Stage Programme includes the Classic automobiles race, scheduled to take place between 5.35 pm and 6.35 pm. The competition features 24 cars from the 60's, 70's and the 80's. The Porto Street Stage will happen on 18 May and it marks the return of World Rally Cars to the streets of Porto, as well as a number of classic sports cars that will do the stages twice, as the WRC drivers in Porto downtown.

ISEP develops sensor to check the quality of fish and to avoid wastefulness

A work team from ISEP Polytechnic Institute - Engineering Institute of Porto is working on a technology that allows monitoring the quality of the fish. The fundamental goal is to prevent risks to public health and minimise food waste in the fishing industry.

Nocturnal Agenda to watch the "creatures of the dark"

The municipal programme "Ambiente em Família" [Family outing to the Landscape] will for the first time, on Saturday May 12th, lead a nocturnal outing with families to watch the "creatures of the night". Under the motto "NoCT - Night of the Creatures of the Darkness", the session will begin at 9 pm at the Environmental Education Centre (CEA), from the Rural Centre of the City Park.

Europe recognises the merit of Porto in the health cluster and grants one million community funds to the Engineering Faculty

A work group of the Engineering Faculty of the University of Porto (FEUP) was granted one million community funds to develop new medicines to inhibit antibiotic resistant bacteria. This project is financed by the Programme Horizon 2020 (H2020) and it underscores the international presence of Porto as a health cluster.
