June is the month of folklore singing and dancing all across town

June brings concerts, balls, and festivals all across town. As is tradition, the Feast of Saint John will enliven the city of Porto with outdoor folklore singing and dancing. Besides, there are also conferences and exhibits to visit this month.

All set for NOS Primavera Sound Porto

At the festival venue all is set to throw a spectacular music festival. Get ready to party at the City Park, when the gates of the enclosure of the festival open at 4 pm. This is the 7th NOS Primavera Sound and this edition will deliver novelties and the best quality as usual.

Salia Sanou takes the concept of displacement and exile to the stage at the Rivoli, on 8 June

Choreographer Salia Sanou, from Burkina Faso, one of the most reputed names in African dance, takes to the stage "Du désir d'horizons", on 8 June, at 9.30 pm at Rivoli. Salia Sanou set up this performance to provide an artistic expression of the symbols of loss and displacements within refugee camps.

"Eating a la Porto" honoured at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards

"Eating a la Porto", "À Moda do Porto" in Portuguese, won third place in the Local Countries Category. The book, coordinated by Chef Hélio Loureiro and endorsed by Livraria Almedina and Porto City Hall, includes many traditional recipes and dishes of Porto, sprinkled with history and trivia on the city, taking you on a journey through the smells and flavours of Porto.

Salia Sanou and Jérôme Kaboré host dance workshop at Rivoli on 7th June

Salia Sanou, joined by percussionist Paulo Costa, hosts a dance workshop at Rivoli, on 7th June, from 6 pm to 8 pm. This will be an impromptu dance lesson, built on the idea of inner exile each person holds within as an "unaltered strength, struggle and yearning". This workshop is targeted at "everyone who wishes to dance", with or without dance experience, up to twenty participants.

Students from Porto awarded at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2018

Young scientists from Porto won the Second Award of $1,500 at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2018, in the category MCRO019T ShealS - Sea Heals Soil. The teen scientists Eduardo Nogueira, Francisca Martins, and Gabriel Silva study at Colégio Luso-Francês, in Porto, Portugal and were distinguished by their research on developing a natural fungicide composed of marine macro algae to combat the ink-disease, caused by the pathogenic agent oomiceta Phytophthora cinnamomi which...
